Act of Contrition

(to be used instead of the Apostles Creed for the

Chaplet for Repentance)

 

Oh, my God I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee.

 

And I detest all my sins; the sins of my ancestors, the sins of my descendants, the sins of my generation, and the sins of my nation, because of Thy just punishment. 

 

But mostly because they offend Thee, our God, Who art all good, and deserving of all our love.

 

Therefore, I firmly resolve with the help of Thy grace to sin no more, to avoid the near occasion of sin, and to entreat others to flee to Your merciful heart.
